About us

We are a team of two independent Public Health Specialists, supported by associates with additional expertise and capacity, including public health practitioners, analysts and design.

Our approach

We work collaboratively alongside your local system, recognising complexity. We respectfully untangle issues, using professional expertise to identify pragmatic options for change, then develop sustainable plans for your workforce and partners.

We use some, or all of the steps below, dependent on your needs

Kate Lees

As a Consultant in Public Health and independent Public Health Specialist, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a wide range of organisations, Local Authorities, national and regional Government, the voluntary sector, academia, Criminal Justice System, and the NHS. This enabled me to understand the breadth of the health and care system and appreciate different organisational cultures, roles and contributions to health. This experience helps me to collaborate at strategic, community and organisational levels to achieve system wide public health action.

I am passionate about reducing health inequalities, and firmly believe in the power of listening to and working alongside communities to truly understand and influence the factors to improve health for all.

I also love to support the development of others, including teaching, training, coaching and mentoring. I am a module lead on the University of Southampton’s MSc in public Health and moderator for UKPHR’s Public Health Practitioner Registration.

Sandra O’Hagan

I have worked in Public Health for over 20 years, practicing at Consultant level for a significant time, following registration as a UKPHR Public Health Specialist in 2006.  My experience across the NHS, local government and the voluntary sector has allowed me to continually adapt, learn and finely tune my skills across many different portfolio areas, working styles as well as solutions, that work towards improvements in health outcomes.

I work freelance on projects as well as an occasional part-time locum Consultant in a Public Health.  Being able to draw on both the ‘science and art’ of my public health skillset allows me to thrive with diverse projects and be able to relate to different parts of the system.  I am passionate about improving health inequalities by using inclusive and creative ways to problem solve and affect change for the better.
